Presenting artists Kara Schmidt and Erin Treacy in a joint art installation, Lines of Site at Harlem Art Park reflected the shifting landscapes resulting from interacting elements in visual space. Meditating on Flux Fair’s focus on changing landscapes, the collaborative installation provided an abstracted scene alternately functioning as self-contained and a mediation of existing space, as visitors could alternately view the installation as a complete artwork in itself and/or the work as a filter through which to experience the scenery beyond. Drawing from inspiration ranging from borrowed landscapes to trompe l’oeil, Lines of Site posited an installation situated within a trellis as both window and barrier framing and demarcating the space beyond.
